PAT (Parents As Teachers)
Charterhouse Center has teamed up with Lodi Unified School District's Helping Us Grow Successfully (HUGS) Program to offer the Parents As Teachers (PAT) curriculum to families with children between the ages of zero through five. Through home visits, Parent Educators work closely with parents and their children to increase the likelihood of school success. The program prepares children for school and educates parents about child development, including brain development and assisting them in creating a healthy environment for their young children. One of the core values of PAT is to reinforce that parent are a child's first and most influential teacher. The program works collaboratively with other organizations and helps identify possible developmental delays and health issues. If found, Parent Educators discuss options with the parents in monitoring and referring their child to the right resources. Participation to the program is available to limited elementary school attendance areas.
